Field Expeditions Application
Application Due: January 28, 2009
Instructions
Field Expedition courses from Project Dragonfly at Miami University and the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden provide direct study experiences at Earth Expeditions research sites in Africa, Asia, and the Americas. All Field Expedition students continue coursework during the Fall semester via Dragonfly's user-friendly Web platform. Earth Expeditions students engage with course instructors and classmates on the web to discuss course assignments, develop and present projects initiated in the field, and exchange ideas.
For Global Field Program (GFP) Master's students, these Field Expedition courses become the foundation of your graduate program. If you are a 1st Year Master's student, the completed Field application automatically becomes part of your GFP application.
If you have questions on how Field Expeditions courses can be applied to a Global Field Program Master's degree please visit our Web site.
Who's eligible? All applicants must be at least 18 years of age, hold a bachelor’s degree (except Miami University undergrads), and have a valid e-mail address with access to a computer with Internet capability. Travel experience is not necessary.
Earth Expeditions is dedicated to promoting diversity and looks for new, mid-career, and senior educators/administrators/students from a broad range of disciplines, backgrounds, and educational settings.
If you have a question about your eligibility, please e-mail us.
Before applying, please be aware that Earth Expeditions is committed to providing our students with a challenging learning experience. In turn, we expect Earth Expeditions students to come to class, in the field and on the web, prepared to actively engage in discussions and investigations on important conservation and education issues. In addition to experiencing local habitats and learning firsthand about conservation issues, a typical Field Expeditions day overseas will likely include lectures, student-led discussions of reading assignments or research topics, and inquiries. When you're in the field, expect your day to start early and end late. When you're on the web, expect to engage in stirring conversation with peers about your semester-long projects. So, if you're ready to think, ask questions, search for answers, and have a mind-expanding experience, please fill out the application.
